DKFM The buzzing in your ears is completely natural.
Hong Kong ‘gazers Lucid Express first jumped into my consciousness with the release of their 2018 single ‘Ado’. At the time the band were known as Thud and aptly named they were, too. That single fairly knocked me for six. Fast forward to 2021 and the release of their debut, self-titled album. The album was a critical and commercial success, quickly selling out two variants of the album on vinyl.
Bringing us bang up to date, the band are now poised to release a much-needed third press of the album. To remind us how amazing the tracks on this collection are the band are producing some live session videos so we can enjoy these songs in a whole new way.
First to be released is the video for ‘No Talk’, a gloriously lush and atmospheric instrumental. The video captures the band as they carve out this majestic monolith of a track right in front of our eyes. The call and response between the guitars and keyboards is mesmerising whilst the locked in groove from the drums and bass keeps everything together.
I love the visualiser style effects applied to the video to give it that other worldly feel matching the mood of the music perfectly. Check out the video below.
If you missed out on grabbing a copy of Lucid Express on vinyl then I have great news. The band will shortly be releasing the album on a gorgeous turquoise-coloured vinyl which I think complements the cover art perfectly. There’s also four exclusive test pressings available. You can pick up a copy from the Lucid Express Bandcamp page or direct from Kanine Records. Keep your eyes peeled on the band’s socials for news on UK distribution. Don’t forget to follow the band on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
