DKFM The buzzing in your ears is completely natural.
New Age Healers have already been burning up the charts in the past two weeks with “Satellites“, the first single from their forthcoming album Debris. Cascading guitars and confident choruses overlay a propulsive beat, and New Age Healers’ focused return has hit “hot rotation” status on both KEXP and DKFM. What originally began as a solo project has evolved into a cohesive unit that packs a punch, with the supporting cast members sharpening and bringing crunch and confidence to Owen Murphy’s sonic vision.
In anticipation of their upcoming reemergence at this year’s epic Seagaze Festival (supporting Soft Science and LSD and the Search for God, no less), New Age Healers have granted us premiere access to the second single from the forthcoming album, and it’s another corker. Power chords and dreamy flourishes compete to build tension, and “Hang On” has the feeling of an instant classic: simultaneously fresh and familiar.
Recorded by Barrett Jones (Foo Fighters, Spinanes, Nirvana) at Laundry Room Studios in Seattle and mastered in London by James Aparicio (Spiritualized, Liars, Mogwai), we couldn’t be happier to present the streaming premiere of New Age Healers’ new single, “Hang On“.
The album Debris is unleashed into the world on 30 June, and if these first two singles are any evidence, it looks to be a landmark in the development of New Age Healers. If you’re looking for emo teen angst, this isn’t the album for you. If you love psych and shoegaze with a strong rock backbone, and the self-assured presentation of a band that knows their chops, Debris sounds like a warm welcome home.
