Our studios practically lit up last month, as word of a new album from Denver’s moody shoegaze veterans A Shoreline Dream started making the rounds. As their career has advanced, they’ve borrowed more and more heavily from a darker aspect, a more goth/darkwave backbone to their shoegaze journeys, and we’d been given no reason to believe that would change on this outing.

Fast forward to, well, today, and here we are: a brand new single and kaleidoscopic dark video for the newest single, “Loveblind”. Is it fair to call it a single, in the common parlance? Hard to say. If it isn’t a single, it’s a whole mood. Cavernous vocals overlay solid bass and synth lines, and it’s an immersive experience, video or no. Almost symphonic in approach, it’s a deep dive into a nocturnal world with synth stabs and well-placed echoing vocals. The accompanying video only amplifies the effect: distant, longing, reaching for eternity, in a dazzle of prismatic color, shadow and sparkle.

We’re thrilled to present the single and video premiere for A Shoreline Dream – “Loveblind”.

Celebrated shoegaze / post-punk outfit A Shoreline Dream present the title track to their new Loveblind album, complete with a dark yet mystical video clip, filmed in Barnum (a suburb of Denver, Colorado) featuring costume design and dance by Tiffany Smyth and filmed, directed and edited by ASD frontman Ryan Policky.

“The title track is a true representation of the observation and realization that so many of us are lost in a sea of past visions of love. Waiting for it to return, forgetting it’s gone in some cases, and searching for it within ourselves. With so much self-reflection happening these days, it’s difficult to realize that the ones we’ve cared for need “love” now more than ever to successfully find their way out of personal storms,” says Policky.

“The production is indeed much darker than many previous A Shoreline Dream tracks, but also one heavily influenced by some of my biggest influences from the early years of goth and gaze-inspired music. An orchestra of deeper tones, with an emphasis on traditional composition and symphonic execution. Extreme highs, and hidden lows centered around a pop focused tempo.”

Slated for release on September 23 via Latenight Weeknight Records, this album is the band’s first new music since the Covid pandemic began, following their critically acclaimed Melting album (2020). With 40 minutes of goth-induced progressive walls of sound. Loveblind promises to be an album shoegazers, post rock lovers and day-dreamers should take note of.

The sixth full-length album from the prog-goth shoegazers dives into the recollections and desires of the past while gazing in a wash of sound waves pointed towards a blinding future. Recorded from November 2021 – July 2022 in the Barnum suburb of Denver, Colorado with fine-tuned production from Ryan Policky, this album features immense synth layers, the band’s signature guitar and symphonic vocals from the bottom of a well.Over the years, A Shoreline Dream has churned out numerous acclaimed releases, working with legends such as Ulrich Schnauss, Mark Kramer and The Engineers (for whom they created a remix for progressive label gods K-Scope). They also opened for Chapterhouse for their very final appearance.

While the pandemic has taken its toll on our mental well-being, the perception of money and power has blown previous years away. Dying to get back to the good times, moments of pure, unscathed lust, we are eager for new experiences to sweep us off our feet. Loveblind reaches for that same energy, taking cues from previous A Shoreline Dream works released over the past 16 years, drawing more from their progressive goth roots. Layers of moodiness, blissful explosions of rock and chugging tempo mix with the pain, love, hope and moments of near death experience while creating the album itself.

The “Loveblind” single can be downloaded exclusively via Bandcamp, where “Alarms Stop Ringing” is already available the full Loveblind album can be pre-ordered. As of September 23, the album will be released everywhere online, including Spotify and Apple Music.
