DKFM The buzzing in your ears is completely natural.
Dead Leaf Echo have proven themselves perhaps the hardest touring band in gazebusiness. Having just completed a full west coast tour, from Portland to Vancouver, down to Long Beach and LA, all the way back to Portland, they’ve introduced and reintroduced themselves to audiences across the nation, and around the world. Besides winning fans and playing festivals, they were blessed to be invited to perform live in studio at KEXP (pictured above). Expect video of their performance to be posted to KEXP’s YouTube channel soon.
Dead Leaf Echo returns home for their record release party on Saturday. It’s a special celebration of Pale Fire‘s release, complete with bonus material. The bonus track, “Why.” is premiered here to celebrate the occasion. Not included on the original release but recorded during the Pale Fire sessions (with Mark Van Hoen), additional remixing now done by Fall of Another Year. “Why.” is included on the new vinyl release which is available via the ever-impressive Moon Sounds Records, and will be available at the vinyl release party at Sunnyvale in Brooklyn on Saturday April 27th. With support from friends Weeknight, Whiner and Tiers, it looks to be a celebration of conquering heroes returned home.
Languid may be an overused term to describe some of the stylistic flourishes of Dead Leaf Echo, but it’s even more especially evident under Mark Van Hoen’s mixing duties. Cascading guitar waves and glacial pace somehow make this a perfect closer for Pale Fire, and a coda to what must have been a grueling road schedule. This is the sound of a band getting back to the hotel room at 3:30 am after another six-hour drive to the next show. Shades of Slowdive and Low permeate, but it’s all purely Dead Leaf Echo.
If you’re lucky enough to be near Brooklyn to catch this April 27th show (call it a victory lap), tickets are now on sale, but going fast. Grab your tickets via the Sunnyvale Brooklyn website here, and get your hands on the fresh vinyl release of Pale Fire!
