If you listen to DKFM, you’re likely familiar with Magic Shoppe. They’ve graced our airwaves with nearly 1000 plays over the last seven-plus years (because we count these things). Well we’ve got great news: Boston’s connoisseurs of noisy shoegaze Magic Shoppe are kicking off 2024 with a brand new single, and a sharpened edge.

“Something Hollow” is the first track from the band’s upcoming full length Down The Wych Elm, out on vinyl/digital via littlecloudrecords.com (US/CA) & cardinalfuzz.bigcartel.com (UK/EU) on 21st June 2024.

Magic Shoppe are known for their love of distortion and reverb. Drawing stylistic inspiration from My Bloody Valentine, The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Raveonettes, Sonic Youth and Loop, the band has a heavy shoegaze sound that flirts with the outer edges of noise rock. Dark, fuzzed-out guitars can wash into soundscapes, or crash into a sonic maelström. They masterfully balance retro and futuristic music with driving bass and dirty rhythms, overlaid by dark vocal melodies.

Magic Shoppe have offered up their own wall-of-sound blend of raw shoegaze across five LPs, six EPs and one live album over the past 13 years. In support of their upcoming full length Down The Wych Elm, the band will be touring the EU/UK in September 2024. Check out Little Cloud Records for a full rundown on tour dates as they’re confirmed.

Track all of Magic Shoppe’s socials via their Linktree-ish page here, and you’ll enter a dark but beautiful new world. Given this Boston squad’s consistent quality level, we’re eagerly looking forward to the full album unlocking this June!
