Renee Coutlee
DKFM Official Event Photographer
Renee Coutlee of Ashland, Pa., has been behind a camera most of her life, but she got her start doing concerts when she snuck a camera into a Philadelphia Swervedriver show in 2015.
Since then, she’s worked shows featuring A Place to Bury Strangers, Slowdive, Jesus and Mary Chain, The Veldt, Tamaryn, Stargazer Lilies, Lush, LSD and the Search for God, Bloody Knives, Grivo, Drab Majesty, and Dead Leaf Echo.
DKFM listeners are most likely to have seen the work she’s done photographing Kalamashoegazer, an annual shoegaze event held at Bell’s Eccentric Café and Brewery in Kalamazoo, Mich., in 2018 and 2019.
Her work from this past year’s Kalamashoegazer, Saturday, August 31, 2019, is on display on the DKFM blog at these links:

Another gallery on the DKFM website is a performance by Mahogany, a post-punk, shoegaze act from New York, N.Y., which was captured at the Boot And Saddle, Philadelphia Pa. Visible here: Mahogany.
Recently, one of her photos was selected by Austin-based Ringo Deathstarr (taken in Philadelphia, Pa. 2019 while on tour with Blushing, also of Austin) to be used by the band for an official T-shirt.
In describing herself, Coutlee says, “My vision is to document the shoegaze community in true, archival quality. I find the music to be transcendent and the people inspiring. I’m honored to be part of the DKFM family and hope to do great things in the years to come.”
