DKFM The buzzing in your ears is completely natural.
Bandcamp Friday was a watershed, a deluge, and we stood under it, arms (and ears) open. There, I’ve drawn you a half-decent word picture, we can all pack up and go home. But, seriously, we’re better prepared for a weekend of sonic excellence than usual thanks to the wheelbarrowful of quality new sounds released just today. First, we catch up with the recent quality output from Bleach Lab (pictured above). We’ve tinkered at the edges of the Bleach Lab canon, show to show, but the programming department suggests we’re not promoting them hard enough: a quality sound, carefully crafted, a delight for the ears, and we are all in. No longer just the province of U.K. listeners, we’re determined to spread the Bleach Lab gospel wide, and we’re starting this weekend. But we’ve got so much more. The new EP from älägator (blurbed/hyped here) is sonic gold. The new LP from SugarCandy Mountain is a delight (we’ve been stanning SCM since their single “London“, and we’re thrilled there’s more here to love). New single from Basement Revolver is a refreshing revelation. We’re here for the new music from Deafheaven, Manu, HYLA, King Woman, Slow Crush, Moaning Lisa, Still, Observer, Vollam, Emperor of Ice Cream, The Dream Is Dead, THE EARTH EARTH, Yeah Baby, healthyliving, Ilman Nurkka, Archie Sagers, Big Muff, Sun Shines Cold (world premiere, at that!), Caroline Loveglow (blurbed/celebrated here), Day & Dream, Creux Lies, Enola, dive and drown, Космос на потолке and so much more. That was a paragraph, right there.
And that’s in addition to last weekend’s fresh sonic injections, including Piroshka, Lithia, Mad Honey, Film School, Grazer, Ethics, Beabadoobee, Fever Cult, April June, Lightfoils, Relay Tapes, T. G. Shand (premiered here), Stomp Talk Modstone, Wynona Bleach and more. We’ll round out the proceedings with standouts from Inertial, NAX, Bryan’s Magic Tears, Massage, urbanation, The Lions Constellation, Ghost Tail, Bandom Lyons, Sugar Candy Mountain, Minaxi, The Armed, plant cell, and all the rest our brain pan cannot contain. Bursting forth.
New Tracks Weekend is launched at 8 pm Eastern, 5 pm Pacific, and continues through Sunday at midnight Eastern, 9 Pacific. It’s the first weekend we’ll spin some of these tracks, and may be the last weekend for some others. Remember, you can listen listen via the station playlist page at DKFM, on Icecast, and on TuneIn Radio for iPhone/Android/Windows. Limited beta: we’re now up on Mixcloud Live, website AND app, if that’s a thing you’d dig. Plus we have our branded apps for Apple’s iOS and Android: listeners can vote on all the new tracks, helping us determine what graduates to permanent rotation. Your voice counts! We’re live-scrobbling once again via last.fm. Now you’ll know what you heard, or catch up on what you missed. Keep up with our new Facebook group for some real-time discussions of what you’ve heard, and sound off!
And, as always, thanks for listening, and thank you for your support
