New Tracks Weekend

New Tracks Weekend, August 9-11

It IS New Tracks Weekend, and 80% of the tracks we’re spinning up are fresh in the last week, 90% in the last month or so. Of course we’ve got the latest from Tennis System, DIIV and Nothing. But our headliners this weekend, a band we’d criminally overlooked during debut album in January: Waterloo, Ontario’s EDDYEVVY (pictured above). What began as a melodic folk duo expanded into an immensely tuneful amalgamation of dream pop and True Widow-inflected doomgaze, and it’s quite the opening statement. We’ll spend the next several weeks (at least!) catching you up on this impressive LP. But there’s so much more to share! New album from Dottie inspires with its elliptical guitar swirls. New EP from Glaze cashes in on early promise, paying off in gold. New album from Night Letters is a heavy slab of shoegaze anthems that demands respect. New double single from Topographies marks a new chapter in the band’s evolution. New EP from The Surrounded is guaranteed heavy rotation (mark my words, it’s happening). Fresh cuts from TIRED, The Telewire (welcome back!), Teen Blush (premiered here), Secret Attraction, La Flecha, One Ultra, Mondaze, Draining, MIMICO, Lost Echoes, Manon Meurt, Asilomar, Lavender Blush, and Rev Rev Rev round out the haul of new rotation adds.

And that’s in addition to last weekend’s fresh injections, including SPRING WINDS, Palm Haze, NEWMOON, Calmly, Lightning Bug, BLUNDERBUSST, Day Aches, Dotsun Moon, The Foxfires, Space Waves, Tokyo Tea Room, Japanese Heart Software, Tearjerker, The Ascent of Everest, and so much more.

New Tracks Weekend is launched at 8 pm Eastern, 5 pm Pacific, and continues through Sunday at midnight Eastern, 9 Pacific. It’s the first weekend we’ll spin some of these tracks, and may be the last weekend for some others. Remember, you can listen listen via the station playlist page at DKFM, on Shoutcast, and on TuneIn Radio for iPhone/Android/Windows. Plus we have our branded apps for Apple’s iOS and Android: listeners can vote on all the new tracks, helping us determine what graduates to permanent rotation. Your voice counts! We’re live-scrobbling once again via last.fm. Now you’ll know what you heard, or catch up on what you missed. Keep up with our new Facebook group for some real-time discussions of what you’ve heard, and sound off!

And, as always, thanks for listening, and thank you for your support!
