DKFM The buzzing in your ears is completely natural.
Are we loaded down with sonic excellence? We are indeed. This weekend’s standout release is the album from Stomp Talk Modstone (pictured above). 2021 is barely three weeks done, and Linger In Someone’s Memory With A Lurid Glow makes a strong case for album of the year. There’s no filler here, yet it approximates a double album. Touchstones include My Bloody Valentine experimentation, hypnotic repetition, and even a nod to Slowdive’s “Alison“. Put it all together, that’s gonna be tough to outshine, even in a year that sees pent-up demand for new music and tours, with releases shelved or pushed back by months. That’s just the icing on this weekend’s sonic cake. We’re chuffed about the new releases from Widowspeak and Bored at My Grandmas House (who seem determined to leave an impact in the coming year). We’re spinning up new and recent releases from Fawning, Misty Coast, blankat, I Mean Us, Bludhood, Maida Rose, sadsack, Ian Edwards, FRITZ, A La Mode, MrENC, Juliet Mission, Echo of the Low Light, Stephen’s Shore, Mogwai, unknown fault, Strawberry Hospital, エイプリルブルー (April Blue) and much, much more.
And that’s in addition to last weekend’s fresh sonic injections, including Radio Supernova, Arpina, White Flowers, Subterraneos, VAR, Total Drag, Subsonic Eye, Soft Cheese, Spunsugar, blindlace, FRITZ, Graywave, Hankus, Lazy Eye, Seventeen Years, Leaving Time, Karate Guns & Tanning, Last Ice, Bloom 604, Sun Shines Cold, Telepathic Traffic, Echo Lake, The Hanging Stars, VBIV, The VanishingLines, Submotile and Cigarettes for Breakfast. We’re stocked and ready to rock.
New Tracks Weekend is launched at 8 pm Eastern, 5 pm Pacific, and continues through Sunday at midnight Eastern, 9 Pacific. It’s the first weekend we’ll spin some of these tracks, and may be the last weekend for some others. Remember, you can listen listen via the station playlist page at DKFM, on Shoutcast, and on TuneIn Radio for iPhone/Android/Windows. Plus we have our branded apps for Apple’s iOS and Android: listeners can vote on all the new tracks, helping us determine what graduates to permanent rotation. Your voice counts! We’re live-scrobbling once again via last.fm. Now you’ll know what you heard, or catch up on what you missed. Keep up with our new Facebook group for some real-time discussions of what you’ve heard, and sound off!
And, as always, thanks for listening, and thank you for your support!
