New Tracks Weekend, September 9-11, 2022

Eighty tracks in all, sorted and rotation weighted for airplay. And it’s not even a Bandcamp Friday. Our headliners should be obvious: both album covers display above. Cosmicdust’s TACHYON is a brilliant return of near twenty-year veterans of the Japanese shoegaze scene, and they’ve ripped the rule book and rewritten it. Somwhere between Swirlies and MBV, this album is a perfect sweet spot between the most excellent output of both those venerated bands. The Veldt’s Entropy Is The Mainline To God represents the return of North Carolina’s soul-gaze veterans, but with a sharper edge, and even greater immediacy. Right from the start is a stirring call to arms; if this album’s opener fails to get your pulse racing just a bit, we suggest consulting your physician. But there’s so much more to this weekend’s epic sonic haul. The new LP from New Age Healers, Demolition Stories, plays with deconstruction and reconstruction, overlaid with a fresh harmonic sensibility, and crossing several alt-rock genres in the process. We’ve been waiting for Las Vegas’ Morosis, telling anyone who’d listen they were a big deal… they’ve formed a foundation for a durable career with their new EP release. We’re leaning into the newest releases from Sympathy Jar, UJU, Twin Ritual, Sunshine Ward, Shaki Tavi, Suave Punk, Sulk, Speaking Suns, Oceans, Nightjacket, Outlander, Misty Coast, Linebeck, Holy Fawn, Feir, elemantra, Distressor, Devilish Dear, Fur Aliah, Dead Rabbits, Cruel Sister, .com, Color Crush, Chasms, Bo Milli, Secret Shame, and a sneak peek from the blue herons. Plus, we’re spinning the new Rave Down compilation from French indie label Rave Down, featuring more than a few names you’d know. Excited to see what this lot gets up to next.

And that’s in addition to last weekend’s fresh sonic injections, including The Stargazer Lilies,AEROFALL, Elephants and Dogs, Shadows Tranquil, Aluminum, Submotile, For Tracy Hyde, Laveda, Catch The Breeze, Death of Heather, Fazerdaze, Knifeplay, Living Hour, puppy angst, Magic Shoppe, Pastry, Terra Pines, WYYM, Sloe Noon, Bubble Tea and Cigarettes, Palm Ghosts, combers, Allwax, Broken Head, Casino Garden, CHIVVY, Black Market Karma, Forever Honey, Keep, Magic Shoppe, Pale Dian, Pastry, Shamewave, shedfromthebody, SPC ECO, The Death of Pop, Indoxables, Virgins, Welcome Strawberry, and so much more. Rather a lot, really.

New Tracks Weekend is launched at 8 pm Eastern, 5 pm Pacific, and continues through Sunday at midnight Eastern, 9 Pacific. It’s the first weekend we’ll spin some of these tracks, and may be the last weekend for some others. Remember, you can listen listen via the station playlist page at DKFM, on Icecast, and on TuneIn Radio for iPhone/Android/Windows. Limited beta: we’re now up on Mixcloud Live, website AND app, if that’s a thing you’d dig. Plus we have our branded apps for Apple’s iOS and Android: listeners can vote on all the new tracks, helping us determine what graduates to permanent rotation. Your voice counts! We’re live-scrobbling once again via last.fm. Now you’ll know what you heard, or catch up on what you missed. Keep up with our new Facebook group for some real-time discussions of what you’ve heard, and sound off!

And, as always, thanks for listening, and thank you for your support.
