Even with their first release in April 2017, Glare proved they were no fluke. When you think of Texas hotspots for shoegaze and churning guitar waves, the Rio Grande Valley doesn’t pop immediately to mind. At the southernmost tip of South Texas, only the Rio Grande River separates it from Mexico. But you’re not here for a geography lesson, you’re here for great music. This is that. Into You EP released last year, and got significant airplay buzz on these waves. As good as the opener “Into Me” was, the follow-up “Blank” was even more compelling. The guitar interplay alone was enough to make it one of the standouts of last year.
Fast forward to 2018, and Glare has made an impact. Now signed to Sunday Drive Records, they’re ready to put the world on notice: we own our sound, and we know how to execute our vision. Part shoegaze, part post-rock “bigness”, it references the classics without aping them. Preorders started last week for the Void In Blue EP, and the first song, “Do Not Enter” built on the previous formula, with crisper production and greater immediacy.  We’re quite lucky to offer the exclusive premiere stream of the title track from the EP, “Void In Blue”.

Void In Blue is released digitally on August 31, and limited edition cassettes ship around 13 September, with preorders taken now at the Sunday Drive Records webstore. Cassette edition limited to 50 units, 25 black with white imprint, 25 purple with hot pink imprint.
We’ll admit, two songs a year is not nearly enough from this talented crew. But given their overall trajectory, expect everyone to start buzzing about Glare soon, if they haven’t already. Surely it’ll see some heavy rotation in these studios. If there’s a DreamGaze ATX next year, this is a band we’d love to see perform live. Sure to blow the roof off any venue.
