From scorching global temperatures to a loss of bodily autonomy for over 50% of the American population, it seems the wrong time to celebrate groundbreaking new music (“Don’t you know? The world is breaking apart!”). And that’s true, so far as it goes. But as the world has been breaking apart for nearly a decade now (at least), we welcome those who’ve only just now caught up. Meanwhile, we’ll do the one thing we excel at: presenting new music, incredibly gender-balanced and inclusive, and celebrate those achievements. Is it enough? Of course not. But we can elevate voices calling for progress. And so we shall.

This weekend’s headliners include Graywave and Soccer Mommy (pictured above), both of whom level up on today’s new releases, breaking new ground and establishing themselves as leaders of the sonic front. But we’re also keen on new music from Secrets of the Third Planet, Wilt, re:lapse, Seventeen Years, Narrow Head, Living Hour, Welcome Strawberry, LAUNDER, Of House, mon cher, Tokyo Shoegazer, Medicine, COLLAPSE, Glaze, MILLY, keeps, Heavy Sleeper, Claire Pitt Wigmore, Arches, Holy Ship, The Umbrellas, Colatura and much, much more. Will it solve the world’s most pressing problems? No. But it’ll help while you make a personal impact.

And that’s in addition to last weekend’s fresh sonic injections, including Lorelei, Distressor, Night School, Helens, Twen, GRAZER, Hazel English, Uniforms, Useless Users, The Laurels, New Candys, Ammonia Wash, Ringing, The Black Angels, Pierre Andersson Ek, After Care, My Raining Stars, Healees, Monochromatic Visions, Foot, Graveyard Club, Dummy, Capitol, Asimov, Nightlands, Amparo Carmen Teresa Yolanda, Cold Showers, Auld Spells, Desario, Bedlocked, After Daylight (album sneak peek), and  Callière. We’ve got it all covered.

New Tracks Weekend is launched at 8 pm Eastern, 5 pm Pacific, and continues through Sunday at midnight Eastern, 9 Pacific. It’s the first weekend we’ll spin some of these tracks, and may be the last weekend for some others. Remember, you can listen listen via the station playlist page at DKFM, on Icecast, and on TuneIn Radio for iPhone/Android/Windows. Limited beta: we’re now up on Mixcloud Live, website AND app, if that’s a thing you’d dig. Plus we have our branded apps for Apple’s iOS and Android: listeners can vote on all the new tracks, helping us determine what graduates to permanent rotation. Your voice counts! We’re live-scrobbling once again via last.fm. Now you’ll know what you heard, or catch up on what you missed. Keep up with our new Facebook group for some real-time discussions of what you’ve heard, and sound off!

And, as always, thanks for listening, and thank you for your support.
